Greetings St. Ignatius. I’ve been reading three news stories  about the Catholic Church and the United States that, frankly, puzzle me. First, a Catholic news report. For well over a year, the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), a schismatic group that rejects the authority of the Second Vatican Council, has been requesting a meeting with Pope Leo. Yesterday, July 1, 2026, they ordained four bishops in Switzerland without the Pope's consent. Under canon law, unauthorized episcopal ordinations carry the gravest of consequences, and the situation has become even more serious.
