Loaves & Fishes Ministry

Food preparation generally occurs between 12:30 -3:00 pm. Van loading and delivery takes place between 3:00 – 6:00 pm.  We deliver to areas of East and West Baltimore, and to the Rescue Mission on Central Avenue. The van returns to Saint Ignatius by 5:30-6:00 for clean-up.
 
Saint Ignatius parishioners prepare food for distribution on the first three Sundays of the month. Parishioners of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen manage the fourth Sunday. Sandwiches are always prepared.  From October to March, we prepare chicken noodle soup, hot chocolate and coffee. From April to September, we change the menu to sandwiches, veggie pasta salad and sports drinks. Water and snacks are always provided. Approximately 150-200 meals are prepared.
 
Team captains will contact volunteers on their team several days before their assigned Sunday and ask for a response on whether they are able to attend. Volunteer tasks may include:
Shop for food
Food preparation
Drive the van
Serve on the van
 
If you are interested in participating, please contact the Team Captain directly. Volunteers are not expected to commit to every month.
